Happy Birthday!

The Month Ahead with Stephanie Norris
For Aries, 21st March – 20th April 2005

Y

ou like action and there’s plenty of that as your birthday month begins. In the same week as the Sun and Venus enter your sign, Mercury goes retrograde or backwards, Mars —your ruling planet — changes sign and Saturn and Pluto change direction. Whew! However you do have the advantage of Mercury being in your sign and Mars going into a compatible Air sign, which gives you the edge in negotiating your way through this planetary pile—up. While you may have to re—position yourself, it ’s only to be in a better place to go forward from 12 April.

Mars is in Aquarius until the end of April, motivating you to act not only in your own best interests, but also in the interests of others. This is particularly true on 13 April, when what you say or do can really make a difference to someone else.

The New Moon on 8 April marks the beginning of a significant new year for you, because it’s also a solar eclipse. You’re at a turning—point in your life. Which way to go? You may wish to weigh the pros and cons of a particular course of action before deciding on it.

January, February and March 2008

P

luto joining Jupiter at the top of your solar chart in late January spells change in your career or status — whatever takes you out into the world or however you present yourself. This is something you’re likely to have been journeying towards for many years; now you arrive at your destination.

Meanwhile the action continues nearer home. Throughout the last quarter of 2007 your life may have taken on a more internal focus; you may have found yourself directing your energy into a relationship or your family; or embarking on a personal journey. This may lead you to revisit places or people throughout January, but from the 30th you’re on your way again. Come 4 March, when Mars returns to Cancer, you’re in pole position to finish something you began at the end of last September. The process will be complete in early May, when you’re likely to find yourself in a different place.

Mercury in compatible Aquarius for most of this quarter keeps you on the move, both literally and mentally. There are things to do, places to go and people to see. If you’re involved with a group it will keep you more than usually busy but it will also be stimulating.

One day after the Sun enters your sign, on 20 March, there’s a Full Moon in Libra, at a challenging angle to both Mars and Pluto. This makes for some pretty powerful energy to launch you into your personal new year.

October, November and December 2007

W

ith Mercury toing and froing between Libra and Scorpio throughout October and November you may find yourself doing the same in a partnership. Perhaps there are financial and practical arrangements to sort out that may be more complicated than you thought.

This quarter is noteworthy for the fact that Mars spends it in one sign, Cancer, due to its going retrograde between 15 November and 29 January. This may be a challenging time for you particularly on the domestic front, but it also gives you an opportunity to experience family life to a depth that perhaps you hadn’t previously imagined. It’s quite a saga because Mars returns to Cancer between 4 March and 9 May 2008.

The arrival of Jupiter at the top of your solar chart on 19 December signals that you have arrived at a career peak. There will be many opportunities over the following year to spread your wings and go in new directions. Meanwhile Saturn going backwards on the same day may see you flat out on the work front but after that things begin to ease off.

On 9 December there’s a fabulous New Moon line–up in fellow Fire sign, Sagittarius. You stand on the brink of many things and this is a moment from which you can survey all the possibilities open to you.

July, August, September 2007

W

ith your ruling planet, Mars in Taurus, July is a month to get to grips with personal finances and put them on a solid footing. Mercury backtracking at the bottom of your solar chart indicates you’re immersed in a domestic project that has been taking up your time and attention since the middle of June. But by the end of the month you’ll have put this behind you. On the work front, too you may find yourself getting your affairs in order.

If all this sounds a tad dull to someone as fiery as yourself, Venus’ re–entry into Leo on 9 August suggests you may have unfinished business with a significant other that could take you through to the end of September. We could be talking about a romantic liaison or a creative partnership: either way it’s one of the themes of this quarter and something you’re likely to enjoy.

Travel’s also likely to be a theme, with Mars moving into Gemini the day Jupiter goes forwards in Sagittarius (7 August): you may literally find yourself on the move but also, for instance, making new discoveries in something you’re studying.

On 7 September as Pluto goes forwards you set off on the last leg of a longer journey, one you’ve been on since November 1995 and that will see you arrive at your destination next year.

April, May and June 2007

W

ith both Jupiter and Saturn changing direction, the former to go backwards, the latter to go forwards, April is a month when everything you’ve been driving towards comes to a head. You may have to accept that in certain respects you can go no further for the time being, but in others you can move on from where you were at the end of last year. Having these two important planets in fellow Fire signs is immensely supportive of your long–term ambitions and goals.

Mars, the planet that rules your sign, spends most of April and half of May in Pisces, a time when you may feel more like withdrawing into your own private space than engaging with the outside world. However from 15 May you come into your own with the arrival of Mars in your sign. The next six weeks gives you a window to launch something new or to make a new start in a relationship.

Mercury’s entry into Cancer on 29 May marks the beginning of a busy couple of months on the domestic front. You may have more visitors or family may take up more of your time than usual, or you may be working on a project at home. The Full Moon on the very last day of June will show where you’re headed with all this activity.

January, February and March 2007

T

he journey continues — the journey that began last quarter when first Jupiter, then Mars joined Pluto in fellow Fire sign, Sagittarius, urging you to take advantage of opportunities to go in new and different directions. From 17 January, when Mars arrives at the pinnacle of your solar chart, you will have something to show for all your efforts. On 26 February Mars moves on to compatible Aquarius, bringing friends and acquaintances on board.

Saturn in the other Fire sign, Leo travels backwards this quarter, giving you a chance to review the progress you made up until the end of last year. It may be that there’s some inner work for you to do before you put the last of the building blocks in place.

Mercury toing and froing between Aquarius and Pisces indicates that throughout February and March, you may find yourself having more than usual to do with family or a group to which you belong. There may be something for you to sort out before you go on your way.

A surprise revelation may accompany the Full Moon of 3 March, while the New Moon of 19 March points the way ahead in the personal new year beginning for you in just two days’ time.

October, November, December 2006

T

he accent’s very much on relationships for you this quarter, in all their aspects. Your ruling planet, Mars keeps step with Venus in opposite sign, Libra until 23 October — and so may you with a partner or someone you may not have long met. But then the relationship moves into a more intense phase, as Venus and Mars advance side by side to Scorpio: a friend may become a lover, you and a partner may become embroiled in financial arrangements or some other nitty—gritty aspect of your relationship. However by the time Mercury goes forward on 18 November you should have got most of this sorted out and be in a position to move on.

Six days later Jupiter moves into Sagittarius, the start of a 13—month period of growth and opportunity, when your life will open up for you in ways you may not have dreamt possible. You will have a choice of roads to take or options to follow and will learn much in the process.

On 6 December Saturn comes to a halt in Leo and you reach a crunch point in something that may have important consequences for your career or reputation.

With Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto all favouring you from fellow Fire signs this is a quarter when you can advance far along your chosen path.

July, August, September 2006

Y

ou’ll be in your element this quarter, with so much planetary action in your fellow Fire signs. Your ruling planet, Mars has been in Leo since 3 June and is not due to leave it until 22 July; Mercury tos and fros in Leo throughout July and August; meanwhile Saturn reaches the halfway mark in its current journey through Leo.

So what does all this activity in this particular sector of your solar chart mean?

With Mars so favourably disposed, you could well attain a goal you set your heart on last quarter, which is likely to involve a significant other. At the same time you may find yourself thinking deeply about what it is you really want to do, and who you really want to be with. You’re looking to the long as well as the short term and the decisions you make now will be important for the path you take.

By August Mars has moved on to Virgo, boosting your capacity to take on extra work and motivating you even to adopt a new health regime. Then on 8 September Mars arrives in your opposite sign, Libra urging you to make a fresh start in an existing relationship or perhaps begin a new one.

Meanwhile Pluto’s standstill a few days earlier empowers you to advance to the next stage of a journey you began some years ago. In a couple of years’ time you’ll reach your destination.

April, May and June 2006

F

or the last eight months or so you’ve been redefining your sense of self along with your place in the world: now, as this quarter opens, you embark on the next stage of a process to make your own very personal mark in society at large. There’s no reason you shouldn’t be successful so long as you do the work.

On 14 April your ruling planet, Mars leaves speedy Gemini for more reticent Cancer: your focus turns inward, and to home and family; but on 3 June Mars moves onwards and outwards to fellow Fire sign, Leo, lending dash and style to your activities, especially those with which you are personally identified. Two days later comes a breath of fresh air, with the entry of Mercury into your sign on 16 April; as the messenger planet departs Aries in early May, Venus arrives in it, bringing a new lease of life to your relationships.

This is a quarter when your involvement with a group or groups is likely to be at its height, particularly around 22 May and 19 June. At issue may be the question of whether you belong or not, or to what extent, and exactly what you have to contribute. But in any case the New Moon on 25 June gives you the opportunity to make a new beginning of a very personal kind.

January, February and March 2006

V

enus’s return to the top of your solar chart at the very beginning of 2006 suggests you may be overdue for an honour or promotion that is rightfully yours. At the same time Mars is chugging ahead in Taurus; although progress may be slower than someone as impulsive as you would like, you should have the satisfaction of having put your finances on a new, more solid footing over the last five months. With Jupiter in the other money sector of your chart, the future looks rosy for joint financial ventures. From 18 February the pace picks up with the entry of Mars into quick–thinking Gemini.

Meanwhile Saturn travels backwards in fellow Fire sign, Leo: an indication that you have some more work to do before you can proceed to the next stage of the life plan. Pluto’s journey through the other Fire sign, Sagittarius, continues to empower you, particularly if you were born 15–17April; its station on 29 March may bring you to a crunch point in a relationship.

Your sign is above all synonymous with new beginnings; the New Moon/solar eclipse in Aries, also on 29 March, is a powerful prompt to slough off the old for the new.

October, November and December 2005

W

ith Saturn and Pluto in fellow Fire signs Leo and Sagittarius respectively, this is a time when unstinting hard work will further your ambitions. This is particularly so around 22 November, when the effort you put in will pay dividends next year.

The quarter begins with a New Moon and solar eclipse in your opposite sign, Libra on 3 October. The significance of any new starts you make at this time will be revealed at the Full Moon and lunar eclipse in your sign on 17 October.

Mars, an important planet for you because it rules your sign, spends much of this quarter going backwards. But this gives you a chance to carry out a thorough review of your financial arrangements, so that from 10 December you’re in a better position to go forwards.

On 5 November Venus begins a five—month sojourn in Capricorn and Aquarius, a period when the contacts you make will help you to get on in the world. Meanwhile Mercury’s backtracking between 14 November and 4 December suggests that you may need to secure the agreement of a partner before you can continue with a journey.

This is a quarter when you’re likely to be most successful if your fiery vision is backed up by hard common sense.

July, August, September 2005

Y

ou’ve built up quite a head of steam as this quarter opens, with your ruling planet, Mars at the helm in your sign since the middle of June. On 6 July a New Moon in Cancer challenges you to use this energy in harness with others to make an important new beginning; the Full Moon in Capricorn on 21 July will show you just where your efforts have got you.

Mars continues to hog the headlines: seven days later it moves into Taurus, where it will remain until February 2006. This unusually long period in one sign is due to the fact that the planet goes retrograde or backwards later this year. It gives you a unique opportunity to put your finances on a solid footing and to enter into agreements with partners that could be to both your advantage.

From mid–July Saturn is in fellow Fire sign Leo, lending strength and resolve to your worldly ambitions. Over the next couple of years or so you may make your mark as a leader, or in some other way that expresses the very essence of yourself. Someone with whom you’re romantically involved could help you to get ahead.

Pluto going forwards from 2 September will give impetus to the journey you’re been on now for a number of years. It will carry you through until next March. Onwards and upwards.

April, May, June 2005

I

t’s in your nature to want to act on an idea the moment you have it, but as this quarter opens you may find yourself champing at the bit at the time it’s taking to get your message across. However it’s a different story from 12 April, when Mercury starts moving forwards in your sign, in which it will remain until 12 May. This is very much a time to make your point and to put yourself in a position where you will be heard.

From 5 June onwards you’ll also be in a position to advance a cause or progress a relationship that’s important to you. Your best chance of success will come through meeting people halfway and not insisting on having things your own way.

This is the last quarter that Saturn will spend at the bottom of your solar chart, making things easier, not to say less expensive, on the domestic front. Next quarter you should be able to start enjoying the fruits of the new foundation you’ve worked so hard to build, particularly in your professional life.

On 12 June Mars, your ruling planet, arrives in your sign for a stay of six weeks. Use this fiery energy with which you are so at home to take the initiative in your career, your relationships and your life generally. Who dares wins.

January, February and March 2005

W

ith so many planets in fellow Fire sign, Sagittarius, the new year should find you on track with your life, making good progress towards both short– and long–term goals. In early February Mars, your ruling planet, moves on into ambitious Capricorn, where it will remain well into March. This is a period to consolidate your ideas and put them out to the world; the greater the effort you put in, the greater the reward.

Also at the beginning of February Jupiter comes to a standstill in your opposite sign, Libra, marking a high point in the journey you’ve been on since last September. Enjoy the moment; it’s likely to see a flowering of your social as well as professional ambitions.

The pace quickens from 4 March, when Mercury enters your sign for a stay of two months. Its quickness of thought and speech will help you to negotiate the pile–up that occurs towards the end of the month, when Saturn and Pluto change direction, either side of a Full Moon. Many things in your life will come to a head, but at the same time you have an excellent vantage point from which to survey your life, both up to and beyond this moment.

October, November, December 2004

S

eldom have you been confronted with such a planetary line–up in your opposite sign, Libra as at the beginning of this quarter. You tend to be very self–oriented, but now you must temper your actions by paying heed to the opinions of others. In the following year a teacher or other guru figure may turn up in your life, or perhaps you will play this role for others.

Meanwhile those of you born 15 — 17 April in particular, will feel the weight of Saturn’s standstill on 8 November, when both domestic and work pressures are likely to be at their height. However the tests you meet and pass at this time will stand you in good stead.

The relationship duo of Venus and Mars in sexy Scorpio from mid–November until well into December could bring a new passion into your life, or ignite an existing relationship.

At the same time Mercury in fellow Fire sign, Sagittarius will keep you on the move—not just literally, although that may well be the case—but also in the sense of exploring other ideas or beliefs, which the people you meet at this time will help to open you up to. Pluto also in this sign continues to exert long–term pressure on you to change many of your most deeply held convictions

July, August, September 2004

Y

our ruling planet, Mars in fellow Fire sign, Leo puts you in pole position as this quarter opens for whatever you’ve set your heart on, be it a new romance, a desire to make a project your own, or simply to draw attention to whatever you’re doing that’s important to you.

Mercury’s fluctuation between the signs of Leo and Virgo suggests a combination of creative and analytical thinking is most likely to get you where you want to go. Don’t forget to take on board the opinions of others — they could have something valuable to contribute.

Meanwhile it’s the turn of Ariens born in April to be challenged by Saturn on both the career and domestic front; while things may not proceed as quickly as you may like, regard the obstacles you encounter as tests of your resolve — you’ll get there in the end! Pluto in fiery Sagittarius continues to favour your long–term ambitions.

The entry of Jupiter into your opposite sign, Libra on 25 September ushers in a year of social expansion. Some of the people you meet will be fellow travellers; others will have different ideas and opinions from your own. All will broaden your outlook on life.
