appy Birthday Cancer! And welcome to your personal new year, which began with the Sun going into your sign on 21 June, marking the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere, the longest day, the triumph of light.

You’re in the thick of the planetary action this year and beyond, facing change and challenge on just about every front. Pluto’s making its way through opposite sign, Capricorn; Jupiter and Uranus have arrived at the top of your solar chart; and Saturn will revisit the bottom of your chart later in July. So plenty going on then! As those of you born in June in particular will be only too well aware.

But change is also an opportunity: in your case to expand your activities and develop new relationships, as well as build a foundation for the years ahead. You may find it hard to let go of certain people, although you probably have no choice; change is inevitable and on the whole it’s best to go along with it rather than resist it. But you’re canny, and your instincts will help you to steer a way through.

The Full Moon and lunar eclipse on 26 June is likely to be important for a relationship with a significant other; while 11 July marks a New Moon and total solar eclipse in your sign — a major turning point of the year. The events that occur around this time may send out ripples for months to come.

On a somewhat lighter note you can look forward to Venus’ prolonged stay in sister sign, Scorpio from 9 September to 7 January 2011, a period during which a project dear to your heart — or a romance — could flourish, with things likely to get particularly interesting between 8 October and 17 November.

April, May and June 2009

ith Pluto at a standstill in opposite sign, Capricorn as this quarter opens, those of you born at the very beginning of Cancer are likely to face a challenge in your career or a relationship. Essentially the challenge is to change, which you may feel like resisting, but you cannot hold out for ever. In any case, if you’re honest with yourself, do you really want life to go on just the same?

Meanwhile with Venus continuing to reign supreme at the top of your solar chart, you may find yourself in the public eye, whether you wish it or not. But you’ll feel less of a shrinking violet after 17 April, when any issues you have around this are likely to be resolved. Mars’ arrival here a few days later gives an added boost to your profile.

In May you may set off for somewhere, only to find yourself retracing your steps, perhaps because you haven’t quite got together all the support you need. But from June you’re on your way again. Where to may depend to some extent on what’s going on with a partner and the resources available to you. However those of you born towards the end of your sign in particular may be moved by a spirit of adventure to go further than you’ve gone before.

The New Moon in Cancer on 22 June marks the beginning of your personal new year, so begin as you mean to go on.

January, February and March 2009

he emphasis this quarter is on relationships, in all their aspects. Planet of transformation, Pluto now ensconced in opposite sign, Capricorn is already flagging up change for those of you born towards the end of June. You tend to be conservative by nature, wishing to preserve all that you know, but change is inevitable, we must all evolve. With Mars also here throughout January it may be that a partner is dictating the pace and to a certain extent you may find yourself following their lead.

In February Mars moves on to Aquarius, where it joins the Sun, Mercury, Jupiter and Neptune, shifting the emphasis to joint finances and holdings of all kinds. This is a great time for you/a partner to take some bold new financial initiative — prospects are favourable and in the coming year you may even receive a windfall of some kind.

Meanwhile Venus reigning supreme at the top of your solar chart suggests you’re likely to meet with a favourable reception should you find yourself in the public eye. People in authority are likely to smile on you and you enjoy the support of good friends.

ou may find yourself as this quarter opens revisiting an old haunt or catching up with members of your family whom you haven’t seen for a while. You’re ready to move on from 15 October; this may also apply to a project dear to your heart, which could take you further than you imagined. With both Venus and Mars in sister sign, Scorpio October is also a month when romance may flourish.

November is a month to look ahead, to the fulfilment of a long–held vision in which a partner may share. It may well involve travel of one kind or another, leading ultimately to a change of direction. On 27 November Pluto reenters opposite sign, Capricorn: hark back, those of you born at the very beginning of your sign, to earlier this year when you got a glimpse of the changes that lie on the horizon.

Those of you born later stand to benefit from the presence of Jupiter in Capricorn, bringing opportunities to advance both professionally and socially for the rest of the year.

New Moon in your sign on 3 July building to a Full Moon in Capricorn on 18 July sets the tone for this quarter. With Jupiter in your opposite sign all this year it’s a time of expansion in your career in which certain key relationships will play an important part. Through the people you meet on your travels (in the broadest sense) you will learn many things and grow and develop as a person, particularly around 8 September.

You may very well find yourself literally travelling, with a throng of planets in Virgo throughout July and August. Or busy with a project that takes you places. But as Mars, Venus and Mercury move into Libra you may find your attention turning to home and family. Perhaps you will receive more visitors than usual, or where you live will become the focus of some other activity. On another level you may seek seclusion in order to turn over in your mind where you are going and why. With Pluto due to re–enter Capricorn at the end of November, this is no bad thing: change is on the horizon, as those of you born at the very beginning of your sign already know.

But with Uranus trekking through sister sign, Pisces you’re in the mood for adventure and open to new possibilities, so go with the flow and see where it takes you.

April, May, June 2008

pril is a month for you to be out in the world, with Mars in your sign giving you the courage and the confidence to make your mark, backed up by powerful allies. Enjoy the fruits of your endeavours at the Full Moon on 20 April, the first of two this quarter in sister sign, Scorpio.

From 3 May–10 July you may find yourself spending more time than usual with members of your family, which may in part be due to a yen to visit childhood haunts. Sometimes we need to revisit the past in order to make our peace with it. With Saturn in compatible Virgo also going forwards in early May you’re ready to resume a journey or a project that you began last September. If this is a joint effort you and partner may well have something to celebrate at the second Full Moon in Scorpio on the 20th May.

On 9 May Jupiter comes to a standstill in opposite sign, Capricorn: a peak moment from the point of view of opportunities to expand your social circle and work portfolio. A period of consolidation will follow, lasting until early September.

At the very end of June Uranus also goes backwards in sister sign, Pisces: another peak moment when you can see how far you’ve travelled, either in a relationship or a project, and how far you still have to go towards an important goal.

January, February and March 2008

ith Pluto joining Jupiter in opposite sign, Capricorn, 2008 is a big year for you. It will bring opportunities for change in both your work and relationships that are likely profoundly to alter how you see yourself. Jupiter’s not due to leave Capricorn until early January, 2009, but Pluto’s in it for the long haul. What happens this year will give you a foretaste of what lies in store for you.

You yourself are in part driving this change, with Mars due to return to your sign on 4 March. Something you began at the very end of last September you can now take forward and see to completion by early May. It may well bring you acclaim and recognition, not something that ordinarily you seek, but this is your moment, so make the most of it.

Attending to partnership finances is likely to keep you busy for much of this quarter, with Mercury toing and froing in this sector of your solar chart: from 28 January you have a chance to review your portfolio but decisions about what to do with your money are best left until after 19 February.

October, November and December 2007

t the very end of September Mars entered your sign and there it will remain for the whole of this quarter, due to going backwards from 15 November. You have a reputation for hanging back but this is a time to put yourself forward; you could gain unprecedented recognition for something that’s uniquely your own. But you may have to wait until next year, when Mars will again be in Cancer, from March through to early May to reap the full benefits.

With Mercury toing and froing in sister sign, Scorpio throughout October and November, you’re likely to find yourself on the move in more than one sense. A relationship, particularly one you’ve just started, may turn out to have depths you hadn’t imagined; while Uranus going forwards in the other Water sign, Pisces makes for a quarter when you can take a giant leap forward.

On 19 December Jupiter arrives in your opposite sign, Capricorn bringing a wealth of opportunities to expand your social circle and prosper through the contacts you make over the following year; while Saturn going backwards on the same day in compatible Virgo allows you to consolidate the slow but steady progress you’ve made since the beginning of September.

our sign is associated with home and family, something you may have been giving a lot of thought to since Mercury first entered your sign at the end of May. Or perhaps you have been nurturing an idea. Whatever’s been preoccupying you, by the beginning of August you’ll have moved on to other things.

With Venus spending most of August and all September in sociable Leo, visitors are likely to come calling; some of them people you may not have seen for a while. The New Moon and five planet line–up on 12 August augurs a new financial start of some kind; with Saturn trudging its way through the money sector of your solar chart, there may not have been much of the stuff to play with in the past couple of years, but from 3 September the pressure eases as Saturn moves on into compatible Virgo.

The New Moon/solar eclipse on 11 September points you in a new direction; four days before, Pluto goes forward on its way into your opposite sign, Capricorn next January. Change is on the horizon but this is something you’ve probably known in your gut for a while. Much may be revealed to you at the Full Moon on 26 September.

April, May and June 2007

he work you’ve been doing, in both an inner and outer sense, comes to a peak in April. It gives you a vantage point from which you’ll be able to see just how far you’ve travelled in the last four months. At the same time you can set about putting the finishing touches to something you’ve been building since July 2005; it could be a project or a relationship.

The message of Mars in sister sign, Pisces (from 6 April to 15 May) is to seize every opportunity that presents itself to forge ahead, particularly with something that’s uniquely your own. You will arrive somewhere before the end of June.

There’s a lot of activity in your sign this quarter, particularly with Mercury
toing and froing in it from the end of May until the beginning of August. You’re likely to have more to do with your family than usual; or you may wish to withdraw from the world in order to think, meditate or write. If so, you may find yourself harking back to the past.

ou’re going places this quarter — it may be quite literally, it may be with your work. Certainly new horizons have opened up for you on the work front and you may be spoilt for choice. Travel of one kind or another, in fact, is a major theme of this quarter. It may take the form of a long–haul holiday, a project or a course, but it’s likely both to excite and extend you.

From 14 February to 8 March you may find yourself revisiting a place or a project. There’s a reason for this. It may be that you have something more to learn, or it may be that you have an opportunity to finish something you have already begun. In both cases a partner or fellow–traveller may be an inspiration to you. By the end of March this will be behind you and you’ll have gone on your way.

The Full Moon on 3 March and the New Moon on 19 March are key points on the journey you’re on this quarter, while Pluto’s standstill at the very end of the month gives you a vantage point from which to survey important changes that are coming up for you.

ou often like to retire into your shell, being a sensitive soul who takes things to heart, but this is a quarter to venture far afield in every sense. The emphasis on sister signs Scorpio and Pisces open up new and exciting vistas in both work and relationships.

On 24 October Venus joins forces with Mars in Scorpio, bringing to no less than 6 the number of planets in the leisure and pleasure sector of your solar chart. This is a moment to celebrate, with friends old and new; to embark on a bold new enterprise, whether creative or romantic; above all, to do whatever makes your heart sing. Mars gives a fillip to both career and relationships right up to 6 December, when it joins Jupiter and Pluto in the sign of Sagittarius. A world of opportunities opens up on the work front, so seize the moment to push ahead even if you’re not quite sure where it will all lead.

Also on 6 December Saturn comes to a standstill, an indication that although you may have been working very hard to get your finances in order, you’re not done yet. There’s a bit more to do but in nine months’ time the process will be complete.

he beginning of this quarter should see you at the peak of your creative powers or perhaps at the height of a romance: there’s more than one option open to you. Opportunities to spread your wings through work abound and the accent is on travel of one kind or another. Truly this is a time to expand your horizons, in all senses of the word.

However there’s also an emphasis on financial and property matters, particularly those that concern a significant other. In the long term you’re looking to put things on a stable footing, but in the short term you may find that you have to put your plans on hold. However it’s only the better to go forwards from the end of July.


From mid–July to mid–August the goddess Venus favours you with her presence in your sign: this is a period when others are likely to be particularly well–disposed towards you.

On 6 April Venus moves into Pisces, followed on 14 April by Mars’ entry into your sign, where it will boost your energy and confidence into early June. Meanwhile Jupiter is travelling through Scorpio, opening up opportunities to spread your wings both creatively and romantically, while Uranus in Pisces long–term urges you to break new ground in career and relationships alike. It’s an exciting, expansive time, when you should find it easier to be who you are and do what you want than at other times. So don’t stay in your shell, but venture abroad: you may be surprised by just how far you can go.

At the start of April you’ll go forward from a period in which you may literally have found yourself taking stock of what you own and what it’s worth. Saturn’s departure from your sign on 16 July may take the pressure off personal relationships, but its move into the money sector of your solar chart means it’s time to get real about all things financial. But putting your affairs on a solid footing will give you an anchor for all the other activities in which you’re involved. Security is very important to you and without it you simply don’t function at your best. You’ll find yourself doing a lot of thinking about this throughout July and August.

Take note of what happens between 6 and 21 July: the bolder the beginnings you make now, the likelier they are to lead to fruition.

he headlong progress you’ve been making in your career may be stalled as this quarter opens, but take comfort from the fact that the setback is only temporary and you’ll be on your way again in early April. The New Moon and solar eclipse on the 8th signifies that you’ve reached a turning point in your life — at home, at work and in your relationships. Pause a moment then, before you go on your way from 12 April, when Mercury faces forwards again.

You can also look forward to only three–and–a–half more months of Saturn in your sign. It’s been a long haul since June 2003, when the planet of responsibility and hard work first entered Cancer, but the relationships in which you have invested time and energy are the stronger for it. Meanwhile look to your home for opportunities to expand your sphere of operations, and further abroad for exciting new developments in partnership with others.

There’s a lot going on for you at the moment and you may sometimes catch yourself wondering where it will all lead, but rest assured that wherever it does, you will always be able to count on the support of certain others. You know who they are.

ith Jupiter, planet of growth and opportunity in residence at the bottom of your solar chart until the end of October, 2005 is a year when you can expect your home and family to flourish. On one level this may literally mean that you extend your home in some way; on another that your home becomes a centre from which you can expand all your activities. This will go some way towards offsetting the influence of Saturn, which is likely to have the opposite effect: a narrowing of your activities and relationships down to those that really matter. The good news is that Saturn is due to leave your sign in July, when you’ll be able to look back and see just how much you’ve achieved over the past couple of years.

March is likely to see you at full stretch. It signals the beginning of a particularly busy period in your career, or whatever else takes you out into the world. This is a time of start–ups, when you will get more than one thing off the ground. Crucial dates for these new ventures are 20 March and 12 April. A relationship may also come to the crunch, particularly for those of you born 11–13 July, while the Full Moon on 25 March will reveal a range of exciting possibilities to you.

October, November, December 2004

he planetary action shifts firmly to your natural domain—home and family. On one level this may mean that you instigate some kind of new regime at home; on another that your home becomes a springboard for a whole new cycle of growth or activity. By instinct you’re cautious, but Mars and Jupiter in challenging angle to your sign encourage you to take a risk or leap of faith that otherwise you might not.

Early in November you may find yourself at a crossroads in a relationship. To go on with it or not? On the one hand you may be all too aware of your obligations to the other person; on the other you may have a desire to break free. Perhaps the answer is to insist on more autonomy in the relationship, so that you don’t feel quite so constrained. Then again, with the entry of first Mars, then Venus into the romantic sector of your solar chart in November, you may choose to dally with a lover.

For some time now your everyday life is likely to have been subject to some upheaval: your routine may have changed, or perhaps you’ve adopted a new health regime. Mercury’s stay in Sagittarius for most of November and all of December will help to keep you open to new ideas and new ways of doing things.

his is a time when you’re uniquely placed to make exciting new discoveries about both yourself and others, while still holding on to the relationships that really matter to you. The influence of Saturn in your sign on the one hand and Uranus in sister Water sign, Pisces on the other, means that you have to strike a balance between the old and the new. So don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater; at the same time don’t become so entrenched in your life, there’s no room for change.

The shift of Mercury from Virgo to Leo and back again suggests you also need to find a balance between the practical concerns of everyday life and the more spiritual aspects. This is something Venus’ long transit of Gemini may have taught you; now perhaps you’re ready to join a class or sign up to a short course where you can learn more about things other than the mundane.

Mercury backtracking in April gives you a chance to rethink where you’re going and to move forwards from the end of the month. On 19 April the New Moon and partial solar eclipse in Aries is a powerful prod to get going for those of you born at the very end of your sign.

At the same time Venus’ toing and froing throughout the quarter in Gemini suggests you’ll be doing a lot of socialising, especially with people from whom you have something to learn, particularly about the hidden meaning of life.

On 7 May you receive a boost to your energy and confidence with the arrival of Mars in your sign. It’s there until 23 June, so this is a period to be bold, at work or in the romantic department. Nothing venture, nothing win.

Saturn continues to dominate your sign this quarter, with those of you born 27 June–8 July in particular under pressure to shoulder responsibility for something or someone. But you’ll be glad you did so in 15 months’ time, when this stern planet is due to leave your sign.

ith the return of Uranus to sister Water sign, Pisces, a journey that you began last year is now set to continue. It may be on the physical plane, it may be an exciting new course or maybe it’s something more personal that you’re hugging to yourself. Meanwhile with Mercury on course to re–enter your opposite sign, Capricorn on 14 January, a relationship issue that’s been carried over from last year is now firmly back on the agenda. Settle it and move on.

For the whole of January Mars blazes a trail across the career sector of your solar chart, encouraging you to take the initiative in whatever you do. So don’t hang back, put yourself forward; this is your time to be noticed. Jupiter travelling backwards in compatible Virgo gives you plenty to keep you occupied, although the paperwork may get on top of you.
