The Month Ahead with Stephanie Norris For Taurus, 21st April — 20th May 2004
ou’ll be in your counting—house, counting out your money, like the King in the nursery rhyme, as your month begins. Not a bad thing to do, either, with Mercury not only travelling backwards in your sign, but on course to challenge both Jupiter and Neptune, a combination of planetary energies that could well help to part you from the commodity of which you’re so fond.
You’ll also find yourself wrestling with your priorities over the coming month. On the one hand Mars at the peak of your solar chart is urging you to put yourself and your career first, on the other there are so many opportunities to expand in the domestic or personal sphere that you may feel you’re being pulled two ways. You’re likely to be particularly aware of these tensions on 8 May.
The New Moon in your sign on 1 May is your cue from the cosmos to put your priorities on a fresh footing for the personal new year beginning for you. It will be clear to you by the Full Moon on 16 May how this is working out, particularly as far as relationships are concerned. A friend or partner may well hold the key to what you decide to do next.
As your month ends Mercury will be going forwards: you’ll have finished taking stock of your life and you, too, will be ready to move on.
April, May, June 2008
ith Saturn and Pluto both changing direction in sister Earth signs, this is a highly productive quarter, when you can travel far towards your goals, in the sense of whatever’s important to you. New horizons are opening up for you, in relationships, at work and in life generally. The Full Moon in opposite sign, Scorpio on 20 April is likely to make a partner’s role in all this clear.
Mercury’s entry into Gemini on 3 May introduces a busy couple of months for financial and other practical arrangements. But pay particular attention to what’s going on between 26 May and 19 June, when it would be easy to lose the thread. Meanwhile with Mars taking up position at the bottom of your solar chart on 10 May, there’s action on the home and family front for the rest of this quarter.
The New Moon in your sign on 5 May marks the start of your personal new year, while a second Full Moon in Scorpio on 20 May highlights the importance of friends and partners in realising your dreams.
Finances are emphasised again in June, with the New Moon on the 3rd your cue to make a fresh start of some kind, and the Full Moon on the 18th showing where it’s leading. You tend to be conservative by nature, but a sudden impulse may take you in a new direction.
January, February and March 2008
ith both Jupiter and Pluto (from 26 January) in sister sign, Capricorn things are really opening up for you. This is a time to expand your horizons, to travel in one sense or another — either literally or by taking up the study of something that not only you enjoy, but that will also take you far towards a long–held ambition. A partner’s support will be invaluable for what you’re trying to achieve.
Saturn in the other Earth sign, Virgo is helping you to redefine yourself and where you want to go, so this is altogether a very productive time for you. Venus’ sojourn in Capricorn from 24 January to 17 February helps to increase your sense of well–being.
With Mercury spending a large part of this quarter toing and froing up at the top of your solar chart, a goal you’re trying to realise will keep you busy. It will be important to keep an eye on day–to–day finances, especially with Mars activating this area of your chart. When the planet of action reenters Cancer on 4 March, you’re ready to advance on a journey you began at the very end of last September.
What happens between the New Moon/solar eclipse on 7 February and the Full Moon/lunar eclipse on 21 February will cast light on the path you’re on, in both a personal and a professional sense.
October, November and December 2007
ercury spends much of the first two months of this quarter in your opposite sign, Scorpio: an indication that there may be something you have to work out with a partner. But Venus in sister sign, Virgo will help to smooth your path and incidentally to move on from where you were towards the end of July.
With Mars spending all quarter in compatible Cancer, you may find yourself on a journey of some kind, inner or outer. A project or family member could take up a lot of your time; whichever, it’s something to which you’ll return next spring. So stay with the process: it could have a lot to teach you.
On 31 October Neptune goes forwards at the top of your solar chart: you may be aware of a subtle current pulling you in the direction of an ideal or a dream that in the coming months you may find yourself following. Uranus going forwards a few weeks later may likewise spark you into doing something new.
19 December is a day to ring on your calendar. This is the day that Jupiter arrives in sister sign, Capricorn, opening up new horizons for you; in the coming year you’re likely to find yourself travelling, in one sense or another. With Saturn in the other Earth sign, Virgo there’s solid support for where you’re going and what you’re trying to achieve.
July, August, September 2007
his is an interesting quarter for you because your ruling planet, Venus spends it in just two signs, Leo and Virgo, due to travelling backwards between 27 July and 8 September, which it doesn’t do very often. This prompts you to do something that you enjoy, whether it’s work of a more congenial nature, spending more time with children or reworking a relationship. Mars in your sign throughout July will help you to put yourself first.
Another strong theme of this quarter is finances. From 7 August you may be motivated to look for alternative sources of income, while a partnership receives a boost from Jupiter going forwards. This area of your life has seen a lot of change in recent years but soon this phase will be behind you and things will settle down.
On 12 August the line–up of planets in Leo, including a New Moon puts the action firmly in the domestic arena. But it also challenges you to make a new start in an inner as well as an outer sense. Two years ago you began a new cycle; with Saturn’s entry into sister sign, Virgo on 3 September you can start to build on the foundation you’ve laid.
If there’s one message this quarter has for you it’s be your own person and do your own thing.
April, May and June 2007
financial partnership is flourishing as this quarter opens but after 6 April you should look to consolidate your gains rather than expand any further for the time being. With Venus resident in the money sector of your solar chart it’s easier to get hold of the stuff in diverse ways from 12 April to 7 May.
You win some, you lose some, you might say is the message of the current Saturn Neptune opposition in the heavens. But sometimes it’s necessary to let go, of a dream, an ideal, for reasons that are not always apparent. This is something you may try to resist, because your instinct is to build from the ground upwards, but on the whole it’s better to go with the flow.
You’ll get a feel for what’s happening in May with a Full Moon in opposite sign, Scorpio on the 2nd and a New Moon in your sign on the 16th. A partner may play a key role in the process.
There’s quite a social side to this quarter with on the one hand, Mars urging you to make new friends and on the other, Mercury’s toing and froing prompting you to reacquaint yourself with old ones.
January, February and March 2007
ou’re in an expansionary phase as far as developing joint ventures with partners is concerned — one that will last until the end of 2007. So make the most of the opportunities that present themselves to diversify your investments, in both a personal and financial sense. You’re building to a critical point in a partnership towards the end of March.
There is also a considerable emphasis this quarter on your career and direction in life. With Mercury toing and froing in this area of your solar chart you may find yourself reviewing the whole question of how you earn a living and where you are going, particularly from 14 February onwards. Here, too, you may be looking to diversify and friends and acquaintances may have a key role to play in helping you to reach a decision that will take you forward from 8 March.
The work of building a new foundation for your life, in both an inner and outer sense, continues; this quarter you may find yourself going back over ground you’ve already covered. But it’s only the better to go forwards from next quarter. Come early September you move into an easier phase of consolidation, which you’re also likely to enjoy.
October, November, December 2006
t may seem as if your efforts to build anything at the moment, particularly a career or whatever else gives you status in the eyes of the world, are being undermined or that it’s a struggle to get to grips with anything, but the reality (if that’s the word) is that you’re being prodded to live your life in a more fluid way. This may be disconcerting to a fixed sign like yourself, not especially fond of change, but ease up and go with the flow and things are likely to open up for you, particularly towards the end of October.
With the planetary emphasis on your opposite sign, Scorpio throughout October and November, much of the action this quarter takes place on the relationship front. Indeed you’re likely to find yourself doing a lot of thinking about both new and existing partnerships, and maybe toing and froing in one relationship in particular. The Full Moon in your sign on 5 November casts light on the complexity of your entanglements with others, while on 20 November you begin a new phase in a relationship with a significant other.
Jupiter’s entry into Sagittarius four days later ushers in a period in which you or a partner stand to gain financially from opportunities that come your way to expand your activities. In fact December is likely to be an expansive month all round, although you may find yourself pulling out all the stops to get where you want to go.
July, August, September 2006
ith Jupiter at a standstill in opposite sign, Scorpio as this quarter opens you stand to gain from a significant other (or others) in your life. It’s through your partnership(s) that you enjoy opportunities to network and expand, which may also bring financial benefits. There continues to be quite an emphasis on the domestic scene, where Mars has been stirring things up since the beginning of June. With Mercury toing and froing in this sector of your solar chart, too, family you haven’t seen for a while may come visiting, especially in July. Much of this quarter indeed, is likely to be taken up with activities involving home and family. If you happen to be a single Taurean, prospects for romance look good throughout August and September. For the artists among you, this is also a very creative period.
With the New Moon on 25 July you have a fresh opportunity to achieve the balance you’re trying to find between home and family on the one hand and career on the other. The Full Moon on 9 August will show you how successful you’ve been.
Meanwhile the beginning of September represents an important turning point in partnership finances, which are currently undergoing something of a transformation.
April, May and June 2006
ome and family duties and responsibilities may weigh heavy on you as this quarter opens, but you’re likely to find yourself going forwards from a phase that actually began about eight months ago. In effect you’re building a new foundation, so the work you put in now will pay off in the future. At the same time your career may be subject to twists and turns as you strive to reconcile it with the need to do something that’s perhaps more creative or fulfilling. This is especially true around 22 May and 19 June, when your career aspirations are likely to be at their height and some kind of breakthrough may occur.
Meanwhile you stand to gain through partners, friends and others you may meet socially or on your travels. With Mars in Cancer from 14 April to 3 June and Venus in your sign for most of June, this is a quarter when your social life is likely to flourish and, if you’re single or looking, you may well find someone compatible.
This being the quarter in which your birthday falls, the New Moon on 27 April is in your sign. The Full Moon on 13 May will throw light on where you’re going in the new year beginning for you.
January, February and March 2006
s the new year opens you may find yourself resuming a journey, in the broadest sense, that you began last November, as your ruling planet, Venus returns to sister sign Capricorn. You may revisit a place (of work) or a relationship: the goal is to finish up something so that you can move on. Another indication that you’re going forwards in a relationship is the departure of Mars from your sign in mid–February. The action planet spends the rest of this quarter in the money sector of your solar chart: new ideas for making money, with or without partners, come thick and fast.
Some of the pressure that’s been on you both domestically and careerwise is likely to ease, although you may still find yourself torn between the necessity to keep things going and the pursuit of something more fulfilling. The period between the New Moon on 29 January and the Full Moon on 13 February will be particularly significant for any new attempts to strike a more satisfying balance between domestic obligations and career aspirations.
Meanwhile many opportunities to expand your activities come your way through partners and others you may meet socially. Those of you born 8–10 May in particular may find yourselves spoilt for choice around 4 March, when Jupiter reaches a high point on its journey through opposite sign, Scorpio.
October, November and December 2005
s this quarter opens Mars is at a standstill. It’s a cue to review the progress you’ve made since the end of July. Are you on track with your life or with a relationship? You may want to redo something in order the better to go forwards, particularly from 10 December. Meanwhile with Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune occupying the other angles of your solar chart, you are engaged on all fronts. Jupiter enters your opposite sign, Scorpio on 26 October, opening a highly social 13 months, when opportunities to enlarge your ideas — and your finances — arise through the people you meet. On the same day Neptune begins moving forwards again, and so may you with a dream or an ideal that you hold in common with others. Then on 22 November Saturn comes to a standstill: your domestic obligations may weigh heavy on you, but it’s part of the journey you’re currently on.
In light of everything that’s going on in your life, the period between the New Moon on 2 November and the Full Moon on 16 November is a significant one, particularly for relationships. On 5 November your ruling planet, Venus moves into sister Earth sign, Capricorn, making this a great time to take up the study of something you love.
From 14 November to 4 December you may find yourself looking again at partnership finances, likely to have been the subject of a complete turnaround in recent years.
July, August, September 2005
ou get a head start this quarter with the arrival of Mars in your sign on 28 July. The planet of action and energy spends no less than seven months in Taurus, due to its going retrograde or backwards later in the year. During this period your relationships with the significant others in your life occupy centre stage and any issues you may have with them come to the fore.
12 days earlier Saturn takes up residence in Leo. This uncompromising planet may not be the most welcome of guests, but its move to the very bottom of your solar chart is your cue to build a solid foundation for the future. To this end you may meet challenges both internal and external, but Saturn always rewards those who pass its tests. Meanwhile Neptune is encouraging you to take a more spiritual direction; in this second half of the year you may find yourself making inroads into areas not normally associated with a practical Earth sign like yourself.
Throughout July and August there’s likely to be a lot of coming and going on the domestic front, while what happens between the New Moon on 5 August and the Full Moon on 19 August will cast light on what lies ahead for you this quarter and beyond.
April, May, June 2005
here’s both a short– and a long–term emphasis on your career as this quarter opens. Mars is challenging you to explore new ways of working with others and Neptune is subtly changing your perspective on what you do. For those of you with birthdays 7–9 May in particular this question of professional status will be at its height around 19 May.
On 1 May Mars moves on to join Uranus in Pisces, activating the dreams and wishes sector of your solar chart. These, too, are subject to change, particularly around 14 June, when a friend or group you belong to may prompt a sudden change of direction.
The second quarter of the year is traditionally a time of new beginnings for you, from 20 April onwards, when the Sun enters your sign and again from 8 May, when there’s a New Moon in Taurus. Many of the ideas you’ve been turning over in your mind will begin to take shape now, especially those with money–making potential. Finances — not just your own, but also a partner’s — may be undergoing something of a transformation, but you can be relied upon to survive the upheaval and come out the other side.
January, February and March 2005
he entry of Venus, the planet that rules your sign, into the travel sector of your solar chart on 9 January sets the tone for this quarter and beyond. Although you’re an Earth sign, firmly grounded in the material world, there are opportunities to broaden your horizons not just in the literal sense, but also in the sense of taking your life in a more spiritual direction. These opportunities are most likely to arise through your work and the people you encounter every day. Neptune up at the top of your solar chart is having a similar effect on your path in life, especially if your birthday falls in early May. From this point of view, you’re likely to find the period between 25 January and 8 February a particularly illuminating one.
With Mercury sojourning in Aries from early March to early May, you may likewise find yourself venturing into territory that’s new for you. If all this sounds a bit airy–fairy, rest assured that your natural commonsense won’t desert you and you may be advancing your earthly ambitions more than you think.
Towards the end of March negotiations, particularly of a financial or contractual nature, are likely to reach critical mass. But you’ve been here before – in your mind, if not in reality.
October, November, December 2004
he planetary emphasis this quarter is very much on relationships for you—relationships with co–workers, friends and partners. The entry of expansive Jupiter into the other Venus–ruled sign, Libra indicates that over the next 12 months you will grow in all kinds of ways through the different people you relate to. Even the people you have day–to–day contact with may have something to teach you—and vice versa. Perhaps you will gain financially from a partner’s success, but there will also be opportunities to develop spiritually. Yours is a worldly sign, but if you have a birthday in early May, you’re likely to be particularly open to doing something with your life that isn’t just about earning money.
The action on the relationship front steps up a notch with the arrival of Mars in your opposite sign, Scorpio on 11 November, to be joined 11 days later by Venus. Before the year is out this pair of planets may turn a platonic relationship into a romantic one, or light the flame of passion under an existing one. You may also find yourself busy with partnership finances, tax affairs and investments and in the long term the changes you make could transform your financial situation.
The period between 14 and 28 October is a particularly significant one, when it’s likely to dawn on you exactly where you’re going in a relationship
July, August, September 2004
our sign is ruled by Venus, the planet that hogged the headlines last quarter and which stands, above all, for the feminine principle, which relates to and connects with others. In this quarter it’s not only your relationship with other people that’s highlighted, but also your relationship with yourself, your money and other personal resources.
In early August Venus comes to the end of its four–month sojourn in the mutable sign of Gemini: the process of looking at how you make a living and the way in which you use your resources will be complete. You may have changed your job or be working with different people — either way, the normal pattern of your life is likely to change.
Nor does the process of realignment stop there. With Mercury toing and froing between the signs of Leo and Virgo for most of this quarter, you’re being asked to think about how you express yourself. Does what you’re doing make your heart sing? This question may become particularly pressing around 10 August, when Mercury about–turns and Mars enters Virgo.
If you don’t feel creatively or romantically fulfilled, you have a remarkable opportunity to do something about it, with Jupiter also in your sister Earth sign. But make the most of it — the planet of good fortune is due to move on at the very end of September.
