Preparing your home

First and foremost de-junk and de-clutter your home! Disharmony can manifest in our lives simply due to a build up on a permanent basis of clutter. It overtakes the potential good energy sources; so clearing this energy will bring a revitalised life force on a personal level and sense of well being, as well as to the energy of your home.

The negative influences will be in the northeast location of any building. If this is an area where you work or spend a lot of time, or it's your front door it is important to put some remedies into place:

• Hang a brass, copper or bronze wind chime, or place metal balls or gong in the area.
• Avoid reds, pinks, purples, and oranges on your furniture or display items.
• Move water features, such as fountains or fish tanks.
• Move TVs, stereos or fans, as they will disturb the bad luck energy.
• If you have your front door in the direction of the northwest, put a concave mirror above the front door. Shine a good light in the area.

From the entrance area of your home you can honour each of the key areas in the overall layout of your home. You can also apply it on a smaller scale from the entrance area within each room. Remember to always de-junk and de-clutter!

In a greater sense, changing our personal world to a more peaceful place inspires peace in others, which in turn contributes to the greater goal of harmony within the world we live.

• Place two little mandarin ducks, a beautiful picture of a loving relationship or a photo of yourself and partner together.
• In the bedroom don't have a mirror facing the bed or fish tanks, fountains, pictures of water or a TV (or cover it while you sleep).
• Do a cleansing smudge around the bed with sage or incense every month.
• If there's been sadness and you want to attract back your love put an amethyst or rose quartz under the bed on top of a little tiny mirror with a picture of the person on the mirror, with your wish. This won't control them, but will aid healing.
• If you want to let go altogether, have a good spring clean and allow the sun to shine in!

Ideas for the Career or Wealth corner:

• Hang gold Feng Shui coins.
• Place a Chinese three legged frog on the windowsill facing into the room, place around it good luck crystals such as jade and citrine to bring abundance.
• Place a green light to strengthen the growth energy of the wood element.
• Place a statue of the Chinese god of wealth or any other deity you may have faith in.
• If you have a work desk in this area be sure to keep it clear of clutter.
• Keep your purses and handbags clutter free. A good colour for a purse is red or green.
• Tie three Feng Shui coins together with a red ribbon and keep them in your purse or wallet.

Ideas for the Health sector:

• Place fresh cut flowers or a well-growing potted plant.
• Place a statue of Quan Yin or a deity you may have a strong affinity with that brings compassion, understanding and harmony.
• If you have recently been unwell, remove the stagnant energy by burning sage, or incense of frankincense or sandalwood. You may also use a finger bowl or vajra bell and walk three times around the room clockwise, chanting holy mantras if you wish. This can be done in any or every area of your home.
• Leave a bucket of water outside in the early morning sunshine for three hours and then use the water to sponge and cleanse all surfaces.
• It is nice when you are doing any of these ceremonies to have an altruistic intention of bringing health to all beings, which will add strength and potency to your ritual.
