The Study of Handwriting

n these days of junk mail we all like to receive a handwritten letter or card in the post. Very often we can recognise who it is from simply by looking at the writing on the envelope.

Our handwriting is as unique to us as our voice or the way that we walk. Graphology is the study of handwriting in order to analyse the character of the writer. Our handwriting can reveal many things about ourselves – whether we have an extrovert or introvert personality, how we were feeling at the time of writing, our creative potential and other abilities.

Graphology is frequently used by companies in recruiting employees, who may be asked to submit an application in their own handwriting. This helps businesses to select the right person for the right job.

It can also work the other way round. If you are not sure what you want to do or feel that you are in the wrong job, an analysis of your handwriting can help you to find something more fulfilling.
Equally, an analysis of a prospective partner’s handwriting can help you to decide whether you are emotionally compatible or not.

Did you know that large handwriting means that you are likely to be extrovert and demonstrative? That small handwriting can be a sign of an introspective and intelligent person? That writing that slopes to the right usually indicates an outgoing, sociable nature? That writing that slopes to the left tends to describe someone with a rich inner life? That loops in handwriting show emotion and sexual drive?

Whether you write with your left or your right hand, leave wide spaces between words or your handwriting is cramped, one thing is sure – the way that you write is as much an expression of your personality as the clothes that you wear or the colours that you like.
